Help I Have No Hot Water!

All of a sudden there is not hot water, what should I do? This isn’t an uncommon problem at least once throughout your life. The good thing about it is that there are many things that you can do that will hopefully fix this problem. Troubleshooting water heater problems is much easier than you may think that it is. There are generally two major causes of the lack of hot water in your home and both of them are something that you can repair on your own..

The first is often the most obvious but also the first to be overlooked, and this is lack of power going to the system. Often it’s because of a circuit breaker and all that is required is for you to turn the breaker back on. Of course you are going to want to first check the water heater before you switch the breaker. Unless you have a completely label breaker box you could be there for a long time trying to figure out which one it is that controls that water heater.

The second common problem might be that the unit itself needs to be reset. Things happen and maybe something happened that cause the lights to flicker and the heater unit turned off and didn’t restart. You can easily locate the reset button by picking up the owner’s manual.

These are two simple troubleshooting ideas that you can begin with. As you can see they are fairly simple for anyone to do on their own. You can find more helpful information for your specific model and type of hot water heating system by looking online for it. Be as specific as you can with your search to get better results. Looking in your owner’s manual you should be able to find a troubleshooting section as well.

No hot water in your home for any length of time can be extremely frustrating. These simple ideas should be taken into consideration before calling a company to come in to fix the problem. They are often very expensive just to walk through the doors, and if they need to do any type of work the bill can become much higher very fast. Attempt these few ideas and look online for many others before you call anyone. You will be glad that you did when you end up fixing the system on your own.
