How To Install A Hot Water Heater On Your Own


Learning how to install a hot water is very easy, but there are many things that you will need to know before you jump right in. There is not going to be any need for any plumbing supplies but you will need a few tools in order to complete this project.


First thing you are going to need to do is remove the old hot water heater. This is the most obvious step. But there are a few precautions. You are going to need to shut off the electricity or gas depending on what is in there now. Triple check to ensure that the electric or gas is turned off completely. Now locate the drain valve and begin empty out the hot water that is in there. If you are unable to find this valve you can refer to the owner’s manual that is usually on the heater itself. Disconnect the heater from the pipes, and be careful because there may be some hot water in there and it will burn you.


You are not just going to be able to throw this old system into the regular garbage. Check with your local town to find out how you can properly get rid of this.


Once you have completely removed the old system you can no place the new one into place and begin connecting it to the hot and cold water. This is easy to do, but make sure that you are connecting them to the right ones. Once they are connected you can connect to the main water line. You are almost done.


Now find the relief valve on the system, if you are having trouble you can locate it in the owners manual. This is an important step in the process. You will need to let the air out of the system. Finally you can connect the unit to the power or gas line and you have just installed your hot water heater.


The installation is simple enough for anyone to do, as long as you are able to read instruction you can properly install one.
